The crowd-sourced investigative site Bellingcat has identified a third suspect in the poisoning of Sergey Skripal, the reneged Russian intelligence officer.

The report is credible because Bellingcat and collaborators in the independent Russian media broke the the story that two GRU officers were involved in the poisoning of Skirpal, an allegation the Russian government no longer denies.

The third suspect, Denis Sergeev, is also a GRU officer, according to Bellingcat.

Russian authorities have taken the unusual measure of erasing any public records of the existence of Denis Sergeev, as well as of Anatoly Chepiga and Alexander Mishkin, the main two suspects in the Skripal poisoning. These unprecedented actions cannot plausibly be taken without direct involvement of the Russian state, and add further credibility to the UK government’s assertion that the Skripal poisoning operation, and the subsequent cover-up, were coordinated at a state level.

Skripal and his daugher fell ill but survived the attack in Salisbury, England last March.
