The 2019 military intelligence budget of $21.9 billion combines the spending of all military components of the U.S. government on intelligence activities, such as the Defense Intelligence Agency.

This figure does not include the budgets of the two largest U.S. intelligence agencies, the CIA and the NSA.

The “top-line” dollar figure is about the only part of U.S. military intelligence spending that the public has any right to know about, as the DOD press release drolly reminds us.

The department has determined that releasing this top line figure does not jeopardize any classified activities within the MIP.
