The anonymous CIA whistleblower who first alleged wrongdoing in President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine has been followed by a succession of on-the-record witnesses who have provided Congress and the public with a wealth of new detail.
Nonetheless the President Trump and his defender continue to press for the revelation of the whistleblower’s real name and question his credibility. The whistleblowers’ attorneys object
The reckless attacks on our client are particularly disturbing because they undermine an already frail system meant to protect honorable whistleblowers who lawfully disclose a reasonable belief that there has been a violation of law, rule or regulation, or an abuse of authority. Exposing the identity of the whistleblower and attacking our client would do nothing to undercut the validity of the complaint’s allegations. What it would do, however, is put that individual and their family at risk of harm.
